A downloadable game

Young Jedi CCG is an out-of-print collectible card game published by Decipher from 1999-2001. It was based on the events and characters from the movie The Phantom Menace in the Star Wars universe.

Announcing the Second Edition, an unofficial re-release to this abandoned card game. As part of the Episode II wave of expansions, it is an update to the original cards to allow compatibility with the new expansions.

Includes 223 cards:

  • Updated character cards  with the Episode II sister planets (see below)
  • Updated character cards from the Virtual Cards of the Player's Committee (see below)
  • Choose between two card backs: new proxy backs for Episode II, or the original card backs

[These proxy cards are compatible with Make Playing Cards.com, but might be rejected for IP infringement unless you use a clearly labeled "PROXY" back]

New Rules (FAQ)

Q: What are the funny looking planets under the Location Bonuses?

A: Episode II introduced new locations and planets to the story of Star Wars. With the Episode II block of fan expansions came the decision to modify the core mechanic of the YJCCG, which was the three planets and their locations. This Episode II block introduced two new planets (Geonosis and Kamino), which are used in the expansions  Battle for Geonosis, Investigation at Kamino, Twilight on Coruscant, Return to Tatooine, and Rendezvous on Naboo.

Each of the two new planets (Geonosis and Kamino) are "Sister Planets" to two of the old planets (Tatooine & Naboo). All Geonosis characters get a bonus when on the sister planet of Tatooine (typically 1 bonus for any Tatooine location), and all Kamino characters get a bonus when on their sister planet of Naboo. The reverse is also true, all Tatooine characters from the original set get a bonus when on their sister planet of Geonosis, and all Naboo characters from the original set get a bonus when on their sister planet of Kamino. The Second Edition cards make this explicit, with new Sister Planets printed for the original cards.

Q: How do the new planets work?

A: When constructing a deck, you need locations from three different planets. You can include any or none of the new planets depending upon what your characters are in your deck. You play the starting location for a new planet just like the old planets.

There is a new location to the old planet of Coruscant: Lower Levels. This location can be played on any other Coruscant location, and any other Coruscant location can be placed on top of it.

Q: What are the Virtual Cards? Why do some characters have new abilities?

A: A fan committee was designated by Decipher to manage the YJCCG near the end of it's lifespan. This player's committee released "Virtual Cards," which were updates kind of endorsed by Decipher for usage in their tournaments. You can find more about these virtual cards through Google, or on Board Game Geek.
